An Update on the AEG Plug-In Battery
1 October 2026 3 min read
We've stopped taking reservations for the AEG plug-in battery for now. This is a timing decision, not a judgement on the product or on plug-in energy storage.
Why we've paused it
The UK is still deciding how plug-in batteries that connect through a standard socket should be treated. We expect the AEG battery to reach UK customers after that decision is made.
Our other batteries can already be used in two ways today: as a standalone power bank for the appliances you plug into it, or fully installed by an electrician. We've chosen not to offer the AEG battery in those ways, because it was designed to be used as a plug-in battery. So we've stopped taking AEG reservations until the position is clear, rather than taking them without a firm date.
If you reserved an AEG battery
No money was taken for reservations, so there is nothing to refund. We'll write to everyone who reserved to explain the options, including switching to one of the batteries we can supply now. You don't need to do anything until you hear from us, and you're free to wait if you prefer.
What you can buy today
- Fox ESS Mini Qube — modular, 2.11 to 10.55 kWh, AC or Hybrid.
- Marstek Venus-E — all-in-one, 5.12, 10.24 or 15.36 kWh.
Both are available with full installation or as a DIY option, and our calculator shows which size suits your home.
What happens next
We'll keep following the plug-in battery decision and will share an update when there's news on the AEG battery.
