How to Register Your Plug-In Solar Kit (G98 Guide, 2026)

After you plug in a solar kit, your local electricity network operator needs to know it's there. It's free, needs no permission, and takes a few minutes. Here's exactly where to go and what to enter.

    The short version

    • Free — no fee and no approval needed. You connect first, then tell them.
    • Do it within 28 days of plugging the kit in.
    • It goes to your network operator (the company that owns the cables to your home), not your energy supplier.
    • If you book our installation, your electrician does this for you.

Register at myplugin.solar (the official plug-in route)

Since plug-in solar became legal in Great Britain on 27 August 2026, the Energy Networks Association runs a dedicated registration site for compliant plug-in kits: myplugin.solar. Press “Register Plug-in Solar Device” and enter your details, your postcode and the make and model of the kit. It passes the notification to the right network operator for you.
